Do you struggle to find something to wear in the mornings and end up rushing out of the house feeling bored of your look, frazzled and just not feeling your best?
Here are a few ways to make sure you are always ready to own your day with confidence:
Organize your wardrobe (or get a professional to do it for you) – Clear out whatever you no longer wear or don’t fit into and then arrange it by item and by colour. A great way to start this process is by knowing what actually works for you and your body.
Know your brand and style personality – Who are you, what is your lifestyle, and what message do you want to portray?
Make sure you have all of your wardrobe essentials – Good quality pieces that won’t date i.e. Basic cami’s/tank tops, a few dressy blouses, a neutral jacket + a classic blazer, 2 or 3 pairs of trousers, a tailored skirt + a casual skirt, 1 or 2 versatile dresses (Think LBD), an everyday bag and 2/3 pairs of comfortable but stylish shoes.
When putting together your look, start with one item that you love and then build your outfit around that item. Or, use a statement piece and build around that. Alternatively, start with one of your basics in a specific colour and go from there.
Mix and match – Find pieces of clothing with more than one colour on it or in the print so that you can wear it with a variety of tops, pants, jackets or skirts. We call these connector pieces. You can also mix and match using various colour combinations. You want to be able to make as many outfits as possible with the items you have in your wardrobe. Easy, stylish and cost-effective!
A great way of saving time & energy is to create your own look book – Take pictures of the outfits you have tried and love. This will make it easy to recreate and remember next time you are lacking inspiration.
Challenge yourself to step outside of your comfort zone and don’t be afraid to try new pieces and/or combinations. Use store windows, mannequins and of course our fav Pinterest for inspiration and see if you can replicate the looks you love with what you have in your wardrobe while putting your own twist on them. We want you to be uniquely you and for your personality to shine through!
Check the weather and plan ahead – Reduce the early morning fuzz and mania by planning and putting out your next day outfit, the night before. Always keep a jersey/jacket, change of shoes & great lipstick on hand for in-case you end up feeling spontaneous after work and heading out.
Accessorize! – Accessories are an important outfit completer and like you will never leave your birthday cake un-iced, do not leave your look unfinished. Pop on some earrings and a watch or a gorgeous necklace and a ring or 2 and you'll be good to go.
Remember, we all tend to wear only 30% of the clothes in our wardrobes 90% of the time.
This will change if you have your essentials and make sure that everything in your wardrobe and that you buy works together, and most importantly suits your lifestyle, personality and body.
Make your wardrobe work for you. It’s all about feeling the most #allthefeels in the least amount of time :)
